Not Often Infrequent Consistency!

Tuesday Roundup for 03/09/2010

Cue the dramatic music, it's time for the Tuesday roundup!  Let's jump right in!

Today's featured blog is Dude Craft.  It's a collection of "manly" craft projects, such as turning a garage into a swimming pool, crocheting on a gigantic scale, stacking books, or making vehicles.  They post relatively frequently and I am rarely disappointed in their content.  Some of their posts overlap Make Online and Boing Boing, but it's really hard to tell which comes first.  This week's featured post from Dude Craft is a crazy mini golf course that can actually be called art.

From Boing Boing:

  • This one is actually a touching video about technology and how it can help people connect after such a long time.
  • Kurt Cobain, we miss thee, and we shall pay tribute to thee... ON ICE!
  • Clocks fascinate me, watches even more so. (under the "previously" tag there's a crazy watch that I found a video about)
  • A short (and to the point) animation talking about religion (or lack thereof)
  • I wish I could comment on this but the author already does a good enough job of describing everything so I need to say nothing (this is the longest description, btw)
  • Does anyone remember the Animaniacs version of this?
  • I saw Body Worlds when it came to a local museum, it was pretty schweet but was definitely lacking in squid.
  • Do humming birds and praying manti have the same food source or something?  There are a lot of related videos for this one.
  • I've shared this before, but not on here, and science is cool (also some related videos lead to perpetual motion magnet vids, read the comments on those).
  • I saw this posted around the blogosphere and I do so enjoy organizational tools.  It's just so simple and elegant.

From Mighty Optical Illusions:

From Make Online:

  • The same thing on reverse perspective, but from a different angle... (man I'm clever)
  • A light that I would totally want to eat.
  • I love crazy art projects that really make you think, like this one about cameras.
  • Here we have another awesome clock, this one made from a hard drive.
  • I first screamed "nerd" when I saw this room, but I really like the idea of hiding light and fog controls at the DM's chair.
  • I wish I had the time to do music projects like these...
  • Again, I think I shared something like this before, but I still think it's a great idea, makes me want to run out to the SalVal right now...
  • Mario, recreated in an array of only 64 single color leds, I can totally still see it, though.

From LifeHacker:

  • I totally participated in NPW by not getting that podcast done yet!
  • If I only had the square footage for a room like this...

From Richard Wiseman's Blog:

From Dealnews:

  • My birthday is only a few months away, and I just really like things that are backwards.

From Questionable Content:

  • I've bet this will be a huge problem with the iPad.

From ChannelAte:

  • A guest comic that was just really funny, caught me off guard.

Well, that's it for this week's roundup, hopefully we'll have that podcast sometime before the end of the... year?

See you next Tuesday!

  1. Do you have a unified audio feed for your selections? I’d like to subscribe to your picks via my podcatching client.

    Thanks!

PS. I heard about your show via Norm Sherman’s drabblecast.

  2. Hey, thanks for checking this out, no audio feed yet, but I think we have an rss stream going out. I’m narcissistic enough to have subscribed to the notoften feed in google reader. The audio will be coming soon, so keep checking back!
